The Academic Quad is one of the most important and iconic spaces on Colgate’s campus.
During the past century, many of the quad’s trees were destroyed by invasive species. In spring 2018, anticipating the University’s Bicentennial Celebration, Colgate began planting trees representing more than 20 species, as part of a project to restore the upper campus tree canopy to its former glory. This project was the first phase in a broader landscape planning and renewal initiative to sustain and strengthen our natural and built environments. Sustainable practices are at its heart.
The effort continues today, and members of the Colgate community have a unique opportunity to participate in this celebratory undertaking.
