On Friday, December 13, a total of 3,691 alumni, parents, students, and friends of Colgate University came together to participate in a single day of giving — the Colgate Day Challenge — donating nearly $3.5 million within a 24-hour period, the most successful day of giving to the Colgate Fund in University history.
When Bruce Glendening ʼ77 and his wife, Cecile, were considering how to give back to Colgate University, they knew they wanted their gift to impact the greatest number of students possible. An avid naturalist, decorated Air Force pilot, and retired attorney, Bruce wanted to encourage students to have meaningful experiences outside of the classroom and explore new areas of study. Earlier this year, Bruce and Cecile endowed the Glendening Family Director of Outdoor Education at Colgate University.

During Colgate’s homecoming weekend, the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) gathered at the Hall of Presidents for their Homecoming Leadership Luncheon.
Colgate University has set a new philanthropic record as alumni, parents, and friends of the University gave $10.2 million for the Colgate Fund, Colgate’s annual giving program, in Fiscal Year 2024. Further, in total, the University raised more than $81.5 million from 13,318 donors during the last 12 months, crossing the $600 million mark in total funds raised to date for the Campaign for the Third Century — on the way to its $1 billion goal.
Colgate University celebrated the opening of the Robert H.N. Ho Mind, Brain, and Behavior Center at Olin Hall on Saturday afternoon, during Reunion Weekend 2024. The facility is the new home of the Robert H.N. Ho Mind, Brain, Behavior Initiative (MBBI), a transdisciplinary effort to investigate brain function and its role in social behavior.
Extensive renovations to Olin Hall, the addition of a new east wing, and the Ho MBBI were funded through a leadership gift from Robert Hung Ngai Ho ’56, who inspired generous support from additional alumni and friends.
Colgate University will mark the beginning phases of the Lower Campus Initiative under the Third-Century Plan this summer with construction and restoration projects at 66 and 70 Broad Street.

It is pretty incredible to see what a motivated group of humans can do over the course of just 32 days since my last message to campus. As you’ll see in the photos below, construction crews have been very busy on the campus and downtown.
Colgate University’s Center for Arts, Creativity, and Innovation, which is nearing completion and expected to open in the fall, will be named Bernstein Hall in honor of the lead donor’s genealogical roots. Read more.
