It is pretty incredible to see what a motivated group of humans can do over the course of just 32 days since my last message to campus. As you’ll see in the photos below, construction crews have been very busy on the campus and downtown.
Colgate University’s Center for Arts, Creativity, and Innovation, which is nearing completion and expected to open in the fall, will be named Bernstein Hall in honor of the lead donor’s genealogical roots. Read more.
Dear Members of the Colgate Community,
I write today with the first in a series of monthly messages that will provide regular updates about the progress we are making together under the Third-Century Plan. We hope that these messages provide important information about the numerous projects currently underway or in the planning stages.
In the final weeks of 2023, more than 4,000 alumni, parents, and friends came together in support of Colgate students during the Colgate Fund Challenge.
Jeff Bary loves darkness. And for good reason: As associate professor of physics and astronomy, Bary understands how light pollution — the excessive use of artificial, man-made light — can block our view of the stars.
Colgate is rebuilding and renovating housing for juniors and seniors, creating a new campus region.
Colgate’s music department will welcome New York City-based ensemble Contemporaneous on Oct. 26–29, the first of many visits as part of the group’s new three-year residency at the University.
Colgate University is seeking at least $100 million in new endowment gifts to support continued growth of the Colgate Commitment, the University’s expansive approach to making a Colgate education affordable and accessible to all admitted students.
Colgate University has announced the creation of a new endowed professorship, made possible through a $2.5 million gift from Mark S. Siegel ’73. The Mark S. Siegel University Professorship will always be held by the provost and dean of the faculty at Colgate and thus will be held by Colgate’s current provost and dean of the faculty, Lesleigh Cushing. In addition to being the Mark S. Siegel University Professor and provost and dean of the faculty, Cushing is also professor of Jewish studies and professor of religion.
Massive steel girders surrounded by scaffolding and shadowed by mammoth cranes are easily viewable to any passing motorist on 12B in Hamilton. But that work is a small snapshot of the many construction and renovation projects now underway, or recently completed, on the campus of Colgate University.
Take a small glimpse into the status of these projects and learn a little about some of the college’s future plans as Colgate strives to cement its place as a leading American liberal arts college for the century ahead.
